Casting out the bond woman. I suppose once saved there is a tendency to still live by the old ways. Just as it was hard for Abraham to cast out Ishmael (the work of his flesh) it is equally hard to do the same with the works of our own flesh. The old ways of thinking about life, the old beliefs about the things that are valuable, the old loves that still have strings attached to my heart. Cast them away God says. No longer allow your life to be directed by what you can do, from now on direct your life by what I have done.
